We are a young couple
who shear fiber animals for the better part of each year. Ian, the one of us
who does the actual shearing, completed his beginner as well as an advanced
shearing course in the spring of 2004. Much more useful than courses though, Ian
also completed a year long apprenticeship with Dave Carlson. Miranda joined the
team as the do-everything-elser in the summer of 2006. Since then, we have been
traveling the country together, leaving a path of naked animals in our trail!
We both grew up on
small farms, and therefore, small farms are our favorites. Of course, we tackle
many large flocks as well. (Though nothing like those Kiwis…) We
also understand about hand spinners needs and can take care to shear off that
perfect fleece/fiber.
Many people will ask us…. “So
how on earth did you get into shearing??” Well… Someone once asked Ian if he “ever
thought of shearin’ sheep?” He answered “Uh…. no….” and there it all began…
